 Experiment of Intellimech from Lombardy: Natural Language Processing for Troubleshooting

Intellimech is leading the experiment “Natural Language Processing for Troubleshooting”, focused on Product Engineering & Lifecycle Management wihtin AI REGIO.
       The Challenge:
Troubleshooting systems can bring significant benefits in the management of machines, hindered by the increasingly high complexity of industrial assets. However, the available tools are often reduced to rigid decision trees, featuring poor usability and requiring significant efforts to manage and continuously update the knowledge base.
       Progress of Intellimech:
Intellimech has already developed an early-stage prototype applied to discriminate among the failure modes of a crane that exploits machine learning algorithms to improve the troubleshooting systems flexibility. However, this tool relies on closed-ended questions built upon a limited source of knowledge whose quantity, quality and intelligibility highly affect the system performance.

 Further development:

This experiment will exploit NLP algorithms to achieve a troubleshooting system featuring an advanced human-machine interaction based on free text or speech dialogue, enabling the system to accommodate mistakes and adapt to the competencies of the specific user.
Moreover, the system is intended to be integrated with a self-learning mechanism that will automatically enrich its knowledge over time by processing the ongoing issues. This structured data collection can enable enterprises to identify unconsidered faults, as well as new associations between system malfunctions and component failures and, on this basis, optimize the assets design and integrate the maintenance manuals.

French-German Partnering Event for AI in Industry 4.0

French-German Partnering Event for AI in Industry 4.0 will take place on May 18 and is organised by the project “Deutsch-französische Vernetzung zu Industrie 4.0 und angewandter Künstlicher Intelligenz” that is supported by the Ministerium für Wirtschaft, Arbeit und Wohnungsbau Baden-Württemberg.
Main aims of the event are to provide information on the French-German call for R&D cooperation projects and the funding schemes in both countries as well as to enable networking between French and German companies and other stakeholders during the matchmaking sessions.Join to take part in inspiring plenaries, engaging information sessions and targeted 1:1 meetings promise knowledge gain and new contacts.

The Vanguard Initiative has started a brand-new pilot on Artificial Intelligence

The AI Pilot is jointly lead by Region Baden-Württemberg and Region Emilia-Romagna, and to date 12 Vanguard Regions are participating in the new pilot activities.

AI Pilot activities aim at showcasing the advantages of Artificial Intelligence in the industrial sector, while taking into account defining topics, such as the impact of AI on competitiveness and revenues, workers and employees and the social environment and ecosystems.

AI-DLDA 2021 International Summer School on Artificial Intelligence: from deep learning to data analytics

The fourth edition of AI-DLDA 2021, the International Summer School on Artificial Intelligence, is set to take place from June 28th to July 2nd 2021.
The Summer School is addressed to all the young researchers, Ph.D. Students and industry practitioners who wish to stay updated about the most recent advances in the area of Artificial Intelligence, ranging from deep learning to data analytics.
The school will give an in-depth analysis of the state-of-the-art research and will cover a large spectrum of current research activities and industrial applications deal with big data, computer vision, human-computer interaction, biomedical informatics, deep learning, and serious games.
AI-DLDA 2021 is promoted by Digital Innovation Hub (DIH) of UdineDITEDI – ICT Cluster of Friuli Venezia Giulia, University of Udine and Area Science Park within IP4FVG, regional digital innovation hub which supports the digital transformation of the companies.
