AEBR 50th Anniversary Annual Conference

2021-10-20 - 2021-10-21

The 50th AEBR Annual Conference in Arnhem, Gelderland, the Netherlands.

The event takes place from 20th to 21st of October 2021 at different locations in Arnhem.

AEBR
The Association of European Border Regions (AEBR) was founded in the Dutch German border region in 1971. The idea was to establish a network in order to strengthen the integration of citizens across national boundaries. Over the last 50 years the AEBR has been working on representing the common interests of border and cross-border regions inside and outside the European Union. The AEBR identifies obstacles to cooperate and to find joint solutions to border and cross-border problems, promotes exchanges between stakeholders in order to enhance cross-border cooperation and territorial development in general, with full respect to regional diversity.

Mirror to the Future & European Green Deal
This year, we celebrate 50 years of successful cooperation of border-regions in Europe. Whilst much has changed during the last 50 years, the AEBR is still dedicated to its mission to enhance cross-border cooperation and to represent the interest of its members at European institutions. Whether we will be successful in our next 50 years depends on how we will tackle the many future challenges we face, most urgently the climate change. The European Green Deal is the most comprehensive and ambitious set of policy initiatives in the world. It offers a pathway for a sustainable and thriving Europe for all of us. Our border regions are part of this pathway. Let our history be a mirror to the future and let’s talk about our Green Deal.

Program 50th AEBR Annual Conference
This year, our focus is to link innovation to tradition and connect history with the future. This is reflected in our program and also in the locations we have chosen. We would like to offer interested parties, such as politicians, students, civil servants working in border and cross-border context to participate in our program either physically or online, as we are still living in strange times (Covid-19). We created a special hybrid program, meaning some parts of the program can only be attended physically, and others will take place only online, and others again are in hybrid mode. You will be able to create your personal and unique program for the conference by registering for the sessions you are interested in.

Registration with this link will be possible from 21th September 2021. Session participation will be on a first-come first-served basis, as personal attendance space is limited. Alternatively, you can always follow the online program. Please register by 1st October 2021 at the latest. After registering for the sessions you wish to attend, you will be notified if a place in these particular sessions has been reserved for you.
