Discuss with us the opportunities for Climate Neutral and Circular Food Solutions during this online workshop. Regions all over Europe are key drivers in the food transition, shaping the future of strong and healthy European Food Chains and European citizens. We discuss the opportunities of the Green Deal and Farm to Fork strategy with the EC. And we learn from local and regional examples as NEXTgarden, zero waste, and the Protein Revolution.
This workshop will be opened by Mr. Berends, Kings Commissioner of Province of Gelderland, and moderated by the region Arnhem Nijmegen, Regio Food Valley, Region Twente and Region Rivierenland with the participation of the European Commission (DG AGRI) and of speakers from multiple S3P-Industry partnerships, including Bio-economy.
The workshop comes at a moment of growing interest and need for innovations in Food Production, as a result of external circumstances such as Covid-19. The workshop will address this actual event. It consists of three parts:
Introductions:
- EC representative introduces the EU ambitions and policy framework such as the Green Deal and the Farm to Fork Strategy
- professor Toine Timmermans (Wageningen University)
- speaker Lingewaard on behalf of East Netherlands
- speaker representing the H2020 DECISIVE project (Urban Bio-Waste Management)
Dialogue: dialogue in three groups with participants from different EU member states:
- CO2 neutral foodchain, led by Region Arnhem Nijmegen;
- Zero Foodwaste, led by Regio Food Valley;
- Alternative sources of protein, led by Region Twente.
Closing & plenary feedback, discussion and conclusions
We will reflect upon common challenges, as well as opportunities for the European transition in food production, in light of the European Farm to Fork Strategy. Additionally, partnerships can take the opportunity to present some of their projects currently under development.
The session will take place via Zoom on Wednesday, 21th of October 2020 from 9:30 to 11:00. You can find the details of the session at: EWRC 2020
