Background

On 5 May 2021, the Commission presented a communication on “Updating the 2020 Industrial Strategy: towards a stronger Single Market for Europe’s recovery”.

The updated Strategy reaffirms the priorities set out in the March 2020 Communication, published the day before the WHO declared COVID-19 a pandemic. At the same time, it aims to respond to the lessons learned from the crisis. Although recognizing the relevance of the ecosystems, there are opportunities within the communication to link these to local and regional authorities, which play a crucial role in this context.

The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) is drafting an opinion on “Updating the 2020 Industrial Strategy: towards a stronger Single Market for Europe’s recovery“, following the publication of a communication with this title by the European Commission. The Rapporteur is Mrs Jeannette Baljeu (NL/RE), Regional Minister for the Province of Zuid Holland.

In order to prepare this opinion, the CoR organises this online stakeholder consultation. Please note that this will be the main event to gather input on the opinion, as there will be no written consultation.
