<p>From November 18 to 21, during the Hydrogen Europe Week in Brussels, the official kick-off for the joint Hydrogen Valley application by East Netherlands and North Rhine-Westphalia took place. This application marks a major step toward developing a cross-border hydrogen ecosystem and contributes to the European energy transition.</p><h3>Collaborative efforts behind the hydrogen valley application</h3><p>In recent months, The Economic Board Arnhem/Nijmegen, Regio Stedendriehoek, Twente Board, and Oost NL, supported by the provinces of Gelderland and Overijssel, have worked together under the Think East Netherlands Smart Energy theme team to produce the Hydrogen Valley position paper. This document was publicly presented during the kick-off by Jan van Dellen, Dieter de Vroomen, Patrick Cnubben, and Sem van der Linden. The position paper lays the foundation for an ambitious investment plan and is now available for<a href="https://cms.thinkeast.nl/uploads/ONL_24602_Hydrogen_Valley_Positionpaper_A4_dig_5e9fcf53a5.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> download</a>.</p><h3>Building a sustainable hydrogen ecosystem together</h3><p>The investment plan, with a budget of at least €120 million, focuses on developing a cross-border hydrogen ecosystem between 2025 and 2030. Key components include:</p><ul><li>Production, transport, and utilization of at least 4,000 tons of green hydrogen annually.</li><li>Development of a hydrogen value chain that contributes to a sustainable and flexible energy system.</li><li>Collaboration between East Netherlands and North Rhine-Westphalia through the established TECH.LAND program.<br>&nbsp;</li></ul><h3>Why these European regions?</h3><p>East Netherlands and North Rhine-Westphalia are strategically located along key European transport corridors and boast strong manufacturing industries, innovative companies, and renowned knowledge institutions.
