Innovation is essential. There is also an economic need to focus on innovation in MedTech &amp; Prevention, as this creates new products, services and business models and strengthens start-ups, scale-ups and SMEs. Visible implementation power attracts investment to the eastern Netherlands region as a leading MedTech hub.</p><h2>This is how we are shaping the healthcare of the future</h2><p>The Eastern Netherlands has a unique characteristic: it is largely rural, with greater distances to hospitals. This makes the region a natural testing ground for digital healthcare and innovative solutions that bring healthcare closer to people.</p><p>The MedTech ecosystem is compact and powerful. Municipalities, provinces, universities, colleges, healthcare organisations, companies and incubators work together here on demand-driven innovation projects. Active connections are made with sectors such as Agri/FoodTech and ChipTech. Cross-border cooperation with north-west Germany, a region facing similar challenges, further increases the scale and impact of innovations.</p><p>The strength of this ecosystem is clearly evident in two iconic projects: Digital Health Challenge Lab&nbsp;and Hospital of the Future (2050). The Digital Health Challenge Lab brings organisations together to develop, test and scale up digital healthcare and welfare solutions. In the unregulated testing ground Hospital of the Future, healthcare innovations are developed and applied in practice at an accelerated pace. The goal: a tenfold reduction in labour.</p><p>For the Netherlands, the MedTech ecosystem in the eastern Netherlands contributes to national coordination, faster validation and CE marking, and early market introduction of innovations. For Europe, the region is a model for the development, testing and scaling up of medical technology.</p><p>Combined with unique expertise in areas such as photonics, chip technology, AI and organ-on-a-chip, the eastern Netherlands has everything it needs to strengthen the strategic autonomy of the Netherlands and Europe.</p>
